The need
Retrieving complete patient studies from PACS, packaging them with a standard DICOMDIR and creating media viewable on other computers is a multi-step, error-sensitive process.

The approach
Patient and study search, verified DICOM retrieval, DICOMDIR generation, portable Weasis and media-capacity checks were combined in one Windows desktop application.

Technical architecture
The PyQt6 desktop workflow combines PACS search, C-GET/C-MOVE retrieval, DICOMDIR generation and a portable Weasis viewer in one job model.
Delivery and reliability
Retrieved file counts are checked against PACS expectations and writing stops on incomplete transfer. Completed content is prepared for optical media through Windows IMAPI2 or as an ISO9660, Joliet and UDF image.
